For recreation players these "conditioning drills" should be used for technique reinforcement more so than the conditioning aspect. A well run practice will provide more than enough conditioning benefits for most youth recreation players.
Shuffles -- 4 groups of players, shuffle between cones 10 feet apart for 10 - 20 seconds (e.g., first set at 15 seconds, the second and third set at 20 seconds, the last set at 10 seconds). One group working the other 3 resting.
Shuttle Run -- 4 groups of players (or more depending on amount of rest period required); initial setup is to sprint to a cone 5 yards and back, then 10 yards and back, 15 yards and back, 20 yards and back; instead of total sprint, have the players close each cone from about 3 yards away with a side-on shuffle step.
