Here's How To Chart It          I have a great drill for U8 teams. It's called "Blast Barney." Most kids over four hate Barney the purple dinosaur's guts, so I updated an old drill to include target practice on this annoying reptile.

Set up a line of cones perpendicular too, and off to the right of the goal, about 20 feet back. Set up another line of cones on the left side in the same fashion. Make sure to leave about 4 feet between the cones. The kids dribble in slalom fashion through the right cones and shoot on the goal, then grab their ball and go to the back of the line (keep it moving fast so the lines are short) of the left-side cones. They dribble through the left-side cones and shoot with their LEFT FOOT ONLY. This drill gives them dribbling and shooting practice both, and left foot practice.

Here's what makes it fun. Go down to your local Toys-R-Us and pick up a couple stuffed Barneys. They're on sale now cause nobody likes Barney anymore. Make a noose out of athletic tape and hang Barney in the goal. They'll want to blast him to kingdom come, while at the same time increasing their shooting accuracy.
