Let me add the importance of teaching safe block tackling. I have my girls go one on one but when they get to the ball they side step and attempt to lift the ball over the opponents foot effectively winning the ball and leaving the other player behind them. When I first used this at practice the results were great. The girls realized that they could sidestep, (which came naturally to them), and still come away with the ball. Now they are being cheered for getting out of the way. Our next game went well. You must repeat this often or they will revert back, but not so often that they become bored. Their attention span is a bit shorter so be prepared to move on rapidly.
